From May 24 to May 31, Esopus copresented with Brooklyn's Picture Room (117 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY) an exhibition of works by artist Paolo Arao related to the project the Brooklyn-based artist created for Esopus 25. This series of new work, entitled "Flagettes," consisted of diptychs of vibrant fabric collages the artist created while in residency at the Vermont Studio Center. Seven of these diptychs appeared in the issue; and seven were also included in the exhibition at Picture Room.
RELATED EVENT AT PICTURE ROOM: On Wednesday, May 30, Esopus presented a poetry reading by Suzanne Highland, who was in residency with Arao at the Vermont Studio Center, and two other Brooklyn-based poets, Laura Buccieri and Lauren Clark. The event also served as the closing reception for Arao's exhibition.
