This incredible collection of more than 100 anonymous photographs is all about me—and us.

Based in New York, collector Peter Cohen has compiled one of the most significant archives of vernacular photographs in the world. Cohen, who began acquiring images in the 1950s, organizes his collection, which includes approximately 50,000 photographs, by topic (“People on Poles and Trees,” “Dangerous Women”). He has gifted more than 12,000 works from the collection to a range of institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York.
